Zinc Oxide |
ZnO |
zinc oxide, zinc white
Zinc oxide (ZnO) is a white crystalline solid that has unique electric and chemical properties. It is widely used as an additive in various materials including polymers, cements, glass, paints, pigments, foods, fire retardants, etc. Recently, zinc oxide witnessed increased usage in semiconductors due to good material transparency and wide bandgap (∼3.3 eV) properties. It is also used in industrial process, for example, in the removal (sequestering) of hydrogen sulfide from natural gas. Zinc oxide is a somewhat soft material that exhibits high thermal conductivity, acts as semiconductor (temperature dependent), can be used as a catalyst carrier, and exhibits exceptional thermal shock resistance. MemPro’s zinc oxide nCeramic nanofibers are available as an amorphous material with narrow fiber diameter distributions (ave. 100 – 200 nm).
